Description
Link KnockBlock – Portable Audio Knock Detection Kit
The Link KnockBlock is a portable audio knock detection device designed to help identify engine knock during engine calibration and tuning.
It processes the signal from one or two knock sensors and filters unwanted engine noise, allowing knock activity to be heard through headphones. This gives the tuner a direct way to monitor combustion noise and identify detonation during calibration.
Suitable Applications
Compatible with:
-
All Link ECUs
-
Other aftermarket ECUs
-
Link Knock Sensors
-
Compatible OEM knock sensors
-
Engine calibration and dyno tuning applications
The KnockBlock operates independently of the ECU, making it suitable for use with a wide range of engine management systems.
Key Features
-
Portable audio knock detection
-
Listen to one or two knock sensors
-
Special filtering improves signal-to-noise ratio
-
Helps distinguish knock from general engine noise
-
3.5mm headphone output
-
Long-life rechargeable lithium battery
-
Rugged CNC aluminium enclosure
-
Supplied with two knock sensors
-
Supplied with two sensor looms
-
Can connect directly to a laptop for engine noise recording and knock frequency analysis using PCLink
Headphone Compatibility
The KnockBlock can be used with:
-
Earbuds
-
Headphones
-
Suitable noise-reducing earmuffs
Headphones with their own active noise filtering may not be suitable, as this can interfere with the knock sounds you are trying to monitor.
Knock Sensor Installation
For best results, the knock sensors should be securely mounted to the engine block close to the cylinder head.
Correct sensor positioning is important for obtaining a clear knock signal and reducing unrelated mechanical noise.
Laptop Connection
The KnockBlock can interface directly with a laptop, allowing engine noise to be recorded and analysed using PCLink.
This can help with identifying knock frequencies and configuring the engine's knock control strategy.
