Description
The Ethanol Content Sensor ECS Flex Fuel Sensor Kit is designed for use with aftermarket ECUs capable of reading an ethanol content sensor, including Ecumaster EMU Classic, Ecumaster EMU Black, and compatible Link ECU installations.
When used with an Ecumaster EMU Classic or EMU Black, a flex fuel sensor allows ethanol content-based blending of fuel, ignition, engine start, and boost control tables. This makes it an ideal upgrade for vehicles running ethanol blends such as E85, pump fuel, or mixed fuel setups where automatic compensation is required.
The kit is built around a highly accurate ethanol content sensor capable of providing the ECU with both ethanol content and fuel temperature readings within a quarter of a second of start-up. The sensor is supplied with connector, terminals, and AN6 fittings for installation.
Key Features
Flex Fuel Compatibility
Designed for aftermarket ECUs capable of reading an ethanol content sensor.
Ecumaster EMU Classic / Black Support
Allows the Ecumaster EMU Classic and EMU Black to blend fuel, ignition, engine start, and boost control tables based on ethanol content.
Link ECU Compatible
Suitable for compatible Link ECU installations capable of reading a flex fuel / ethanol content sensor.
Ethanol Content & Fuel Temperature Output
Provides ethanol content and fuel temperature information to the ECU.
Fast Start-Up Reading
Capable of providing ethanol content and fuel temperature data within approximately a quarter of a second of start-up.
AN6 Fittings Included
Supplied with AN6 fittings for convenient installation into suitable fuel systems.
Connector & Terminals Included
Supplied with the required connector and set of terminals.
Suitable for Feed or Return Line Installation
Can be installed into the fuel feed or return line depending on the fuel system layout.
Installation Overview
Installation is straightforward on suitable fuel systems. The sensor is installed in the fuel feed or return line and wired using three connections:
- Switched 12V supply
- ECU ground
- Signal output to the ECU
For Ecumaster installations, the output signal is typically connected to the Cam Sync 2 input on EMU Classic or the dedicated Flex Fuel input on EMU Black.
Fuel Flow Consideration
Care must be taken not to exceed the sensor’s maximum flow rate of 400 litres per hour, as excessive flow may cause signal instability.
In some applications, a bypass loop may be required in the fuel feed or return line to allow correct installation of the ethanol content sensor without exceeding the sensor flow limit.
Kit Includes
- 1 × Ethanol content / flex fuel sensor
- 1 × Connector
- 1 × Set of terminals
- AN6 fittings
Suitable Applications
- Flex fuel conversions
- Ethanol content monitoring
- E85 and ethanol blend fuel setups
- Ecumaster EMU Classic installations
- Ecumaster EMU Black installations
- Compatible Link ECU installations
- Aftermarket ECU installations with flex fuel input support
- Turbocharged, supercharged, naturally aspirated, and motorsport builds
Important Notes
- ECU must be capable of reading an ethanol content / flex fuel sensor
- For EMU Classic, signal connection is typically to Cam Sync 2
- For EMU Black, signal connection is typically to the dedicated Flex Fuel input
- Maximum sensor flow rate is 400 litres per hour
- Exceeding the maximum flow rate may cause signal instability
- Some fuel systems may require a bypass loop in the feed or return line
- Professional installation and ECU configuration are recommended
- Fuel system compatibility and safe installation should be checked before fitting
- Final ECU calibration should be carried out by a qualified tuner
